@HumanProgress
After adjusting for income growth, commodity prices fell by 53 per cent from 1960 to 2016. Humanity is creating faster than it is consuming.

Why would anyone care what stuff used to cost? That affects me none. I only care what I have to pay for stuff.

College , health insurance, and housing were cheaper, and I think most would take that over cheaper Chinese shite.

Back in my day we boomers just worked in the summer to pay for college. Millenials are just lazy

Chart seems a bit misleading due to the outsourcing of most manufacturing to China. As GLT posted, healthcare and housing is much more expensive than in the past.
In 1960s Detroit, a dad could work while mom stayed home and looked after the kids and they could have a very nice, upper-middle class lifestyle. Try doing that nowadays and you’d be barely getting by month to month

That’s because husbands are expected to buy washing machines and dishwashers when back in the day the wives did all that

I just cannot fathom someone truly believing they are worse off than a 1960s family
Maybe certain subgroups like Michigan factory workers
Do you REALLY think the average Louisiana family was better off in 1960 than now?

If you only knew the indignities we millenials have to suffer at the hands of the Boomer scourge.

You guys bitch about home prices but you are obsessed with living in cities
Boomers FLED THE CITIES, and got cheaper homes because of . White flight

Grandpa used to tell me all about how he struggled to provide sheep meat, Malaysian logs, and orange.
Whoever made that could have at least changed the default excel chart colors so it looks somewhat official.
