Check out this blanket of Army patches that my grandfather collected as a kid.

My grandfather was an Army brat, through his childhood he moved all over the place, like Germany and Japan, Maryland and Louisiana. His father retired as a full bird colonel, he got to listen to the invasion of Normandy on a radio at Ft. Benning, Georgia.

He would always try and get as many unit patches from the men if he didn’t have one, this isn’t all of them that he has but it’s most.

Thought y’all would think it is cool.

Eta: I did a social studies fair project on it in like 4th or 5th grade, I didn't win. Damn communist judges.

Are you using it to block a draft from your fireplace?

Haha I’m not, he hung it up to get all the wrinkles out of it cause he’s bringing it to a Civil War roundtable.

Would majorly suck if you started the fireplace and that thing burned. Please move it to another place

Just ribbing you. That is cool. I'm sure that he knows what they all are.

He used to know all of em, old age has caused him to forget some of em.

His dad was the head of logistics for I think 1st Cav. during Korea and he’s got a huge map of Korea that his dad gave to him with a bunch of markings on it indicating burial sites.

Maybe there’s a story about your grandmother related to those patches that you’re not sharing with the group...?

Well my grandfather wasn’t in the military, he had bad asthma so they wouldn’t let him in. So there were no Jody’s in his life.

Very cool. As a collector of WWII patches I can identify all but the light blue one with what I think is a parachute in the middle of the blanket.

Could you take a close up picture of that patch and I will try and identify it for you?

Thats pretty cool.. And that's a fireplace behind it right? The fireplace in my house is set on a brick area almost just like that.
