The internet is amazing. Most of the stories that come out now are on the more personal level. Individual or small groups whose story had been passed down through the family, but now is more easily available to hunt down and figure out.

Of all the great wars we were involved with, the civil was is the most forgettable. We basically put on a show for the world concerning our own stupidity.

frick you. I’m glad we fought it. It sucked, but the war was based on principle.

Its setting, the debatable causes, inter-family dramas, the sheer scale of the carnage, the end of slavery. These are just a few of the things that make it the most memorable.

Totally disagree. Other than WW2, the Civil War is by far the most interesting/memorable war we were ever in.

I have ancestors that fought on both sides and they were brothers. Different points of view.

Has there been anything about the free state of Winston County, AL in there?

There's actually several. Many on World War II, and even a couple on Vietnam.

Thank God for Bit Torrent !

Eh, depends on your perspective even how you describe the conflict. But most of what the south fought for was inevitably going to change. It just depends on whether you believe 700,000 lives were worth it to speed up those processes or not.
