Headed to Charlottesville for 2 weeks tomorrow for class for work. Anybody familiar with the area? What are some good restaurants , bars, sites I should check out while I'm in town? Any good live music venues or events going on right now I should be aware of?

Thanks in advance.

Charlottesville is amazing. I lived there for 3 years and was extremely sad to go. My wife and I already have plans to retire in that area beceause it is such an awesome town.

Gotta hit up Bodo's Bagels for an amazing bagel. I grew up in NJ right outside of NYC and these bagels are just as good if not better.

Friday's after 5 is always fun. It is a big party downtown on the mall where there is free live music, beer trucks, and everyone out there having a good time. Miller's is cool for a drink or two and the owner has Louisiana connections.

Monticello is definitely a must if you like history.

Where are you staying? If possible, you could get close to the corner which is where all the college bars are but since it is summer, it won't be as busy.

Thanks. I'll definitely hit up Monticello and am always in search of a good bagel.

Staying on Emmet St North, near trader joes and whole foods I think I saw on google maps. Think it's about a mile or so from UVA.

The Whiskey Jar is a great spot, Beer Run is awesome as well.

If you can drive 15 minutes west, Blue Mountain Brewery may have the best combo of food and beer. There are about 40 wineries within a 5 mile radius in that area as well. Cville is a great town and would move back there in an instance for the right job.

Check out the John Paul Jones Arena and see if they are playing anything. I haven't been back there for a few years but there was a bar called McGrady's that had pretty good wings and was a fun atmosphere.

If you are close to UVA, there are a lot of good restaurants and bars in the area not too far up the road, especially on Emmet St.

Like mentioned before, tons of really nice wineries/cideries. A few breweries too.

Mudhouse for coffee - some of the best coffee I have had.

Hamilton's or Feast for food.

Check out Virginia's campus - more specifically, the Monticello and The Lawn.
