quote:

"We need 300 million shots, give a thousand to some NBA players ... NFL players, hockey players," Barkley said. "As much taxes as these players pay, they deserve some preferential treatment."

Kenny Smith followed up by questioning if that's fair when it could literally be a "life or death" situation for regular folk who don't have the same resources as pro athletes ... but Barkley doubled down.

"We can't go there," Smith clapped back. "I don't think you can go there."

quote:

Of course, both NBA and NFL commissioners Adam Silver and Roger Goodell have already shot down the idea of giving their players vaccines while essential workers and others wait in line.

Wasn't sure if the OT or MSB was the more appropriate board for this thread, so mods feel free to move to MSB if necessary.

Charles is normally really grounded compared to his peers but this is not a great take.

I wouldn’t mind them going earlier relative to their age bracket, based on their occupational demands (high travel/close contact inherent to the occupation and unavoidable). But they shouldn’t jump in ahead of the elderly.

Do we have 300 million doses in the U.S. available to be given right this moment?

One could argue a halo effect for pro athletes.

Them being able to play their game leads to employment of thousands of people. If they have outbreaks, they cancel games (which is stupid).

ETA:

I am not arguing that. My opinion is let them all get COVID, they're world class athletes and will be fine. Just stop canceling/moving games.

So what about the large portion of the population that don't pay any taxes, should they even get a vaccine, Chuck?

This is the better articulation of the argument and likely what goofy Barkley was trying to get at. I don't necessarily have a problem with it. Everything is not zero sum as so many people seem to think.

It's a silly take but if you tried to convince me that we should vaccinate the people who entertain us so we can keep being entertained without interruption I wouldn't fight you too hard on it

.

They are all overpaid. Professional athletes go in the same column as politicians. Frick them.

Most high earners will pay more in taxes over a lifetime than the average pro athlete.

They should be last on the list to get any of the vaccines. Don’t know of any professional athletes currently that have died from the virus. If they want to get vaccinated, go to chynnna and don’t come back.

Let em do it. Easy way to kill off BLM bullshite.

Guess that retard hasn’t seen the nurses drop on camera from a standing position right after the vaccine.

Give that a-hole and all his friends a double dose.
