Forgot to put part of my above post as a proper quote. Don't care, not worth the hassle to fix

I've costed it out to do the change myself. The $10 I'd save isn't worth the time. Especially when the place I use is in the same lot as my work.

Exactly. Congrats on applying logic it's uncommon. From here one can use the same technique to help make other random decisions.

Changing your own oil takes 15 min and is cheaper. Why wouldn't one change their own oil?

Only hassle is driving across town to dispose of the oil.

You don't have a ditch out front?

Kidding of course. Luckily we can recycle it at work. I think most auto parts stores recycle for free as well now.

OK here is where it gets tough...

Each person has to choose for himself based on a variety of situations and personal preferences. Some people hate doing shite like changing oil, others seem to enjoy it and gain some sense of wellbeing from the task.

I have to remind myself that this board is used to teach grown men how to dress, what to drive and what their tastes in women should be.

Cool man. My labor is worth more than $10 an hour, so I'll just be a girly man. At least I'm logical.

I work 50+ hour work weeks, which I get paid for. On weekends, I don't get paid, my labor is worth exactly nothing on weekends.

A 15 minute oil changes is no big deal to me, I even store the waste oil to burn in my Deuce and a Half.

Congrats, I work 32 houses per week and I think my free time is extremely valuable.

Posting, fishing, posting about fishing, driving cars, posting about driving cars, drinking, posting about drinking.

You get my drift.

I agree Vette. Finding 30 minutes of free time every three months is a bitch.

I'm busy watching HGTV and posting on TD, I don't have any "free time"

I actually like the wrenching part. I like working on anything anyway.

It's dealing with the dirty oil that is the PITA.

This makes me want to call you a pansy more than the time issue.

The oil is a PITA though.

I've always changed my own earl. No one cares for your things like you would, therefore when I do it, I know it's done right.

I can't even buy all of the oil and filter as cheap as the price I an oil change at the quick lube. Oil changed and water canister emptied in 10-15 minutes, I can't even go get the stuff that quick.
