Two weeks ago there was supposed to be a conference that took up all halls here at the Center in NOLA. It was about 90% Chinese commuting in, it dwindled down to half a hall before eventually just being cancelled altogether. It’s happening all over the world.

Cera week should have been cancelled years ago.

Won't effect business.
These conferences are 90% just frick off time.
Not truly crucial for work.

I was scheduled to go to 3 trips for work in the next few months, all canceled.

NYC mid March
Detroit May
Paris June

Now they're trying out a work from home program for 2 days a week soon

With today's technology it really is a waste of the company dime.

My wife works for a company that negotiates hotel rates for large conventions. It will def have an impact on her commissions.

Why so?

I attended last year and thought it was a great conference.

Pompeo, Perry, Vicki Hollub, Mike Wirth, Ford, and a number of other high level executives joining to collaborate and discuss energy topics.

Regardless of what you believe deals do happen because of these conferences.

I think convention centers and associated businesses need to start to shift towards non business convention activities.
Stuff like comic Con etc. Experiences people will travel for. I see typical business conventions dieing out in the coming years.

I work for the company that runs it.

My sister has been working to set up an event for over a year for her company and they had to cancel.
