CDC to ban self-service food options such as buffets?

The company's CEO, John Haywood, told The San Diego Union-Tribune COVID-19 has made it too difficult for them to reopen.

"The FDA had previously put out recommendations that included discontinuing self-serve stations, like self-serve beverages in fast food, but they specifically talked about salad bars and buffets," said Haywood. "The regulations are understandable, but unfortunately, it makes it very difficult to reopen. And I'm not sure the health departments are ever going to allow it."

This company was in some financial straits before Corona shut them down. So maybe the CEO is just trying to pass blame.

But it's not crazy to think there might be some truth. Everything from a self-serve buffet to the self-serve fountain drink machine to the self-serve fro yo machine could be impacted. A lot of companies financial structure probably won't work having to hire someone to do all the serving.

There are a lot of companies out there in this space fully, or even partially like casinos and even wedding venues.

If the CDC reccomends against these, and local health officials decide to not permit them, this could be a big impact.
