Not saying that STL doesn’t have problems, but per capita rates always make it look worse because the city proper is only ~10% of the metro area.

Whatever happened to L.A.? Not as much hype as there was 30 years ago.

Looks like data only through 2018. Dallas would move way up that list. They had a busy 2019 with over 200 murders and 2020 is looking pretty solid, too.

Chicago at 16 seems suspect

huge areas of northside euro middle class hold the ratio down.

Interesting notion:
Clearly marked territory of the gangs keeps murder to a minimum.

See signage; Almighty P Stone Nation. You going?

the gangs are either folks or people.

Uneasy armed truce.

That slideshow is from 2018. Both BR and Nola's murders fell in 2019.

New Orleans: 119 murders / 391,000 population = 30.4 murders/100k people

Baton Rouge: 65 murders / 228,000 = 28.5 murders/100k people

Citation: NOLA, BR

Hey look...it’s the daily “let’s trash Louisiana” thread on the OT.

The Louisiana hating Nazi’s of the OT are ready to respond with their hate of Louisiana.

Birmingham had 107 murders in 2018 which would equal a murder rate of 51 / 100k. That'd make Bham tied with Baltimore for the 2nd deadliest city in the country yet it's not in the slideshow.

Baton Rouge, Louisiana's state capital, is the nation's fifth deadliest city. It saw 35.1 homicide deaths per 100,000 residents in 2018, which is 10 places higher than Chicago's murder rate.

Y'all are usually top 10. No way Birmingham isn't in the top 60. Birmingham and BR proper have pretty similar population sizes and y'all usually have more murders than us. My FIL calls me and bitches about it fairly often

No Jackson either.

Jackson's 2018 murder rate was 47/100k people, good for third in the country. The population cutoff is probably 100k (North Charleston is at 110k) so that makes at least two notable omissions from the top 5.
