I applied online for a position in the Lake Charles market and received an email letting me know they got my resume and that they would contact me if interested.

Is there anyway to reach out to someone and follow up?
What is the usual timetable for them to contact you after the initial resume has been sent?

Just big corporation type stuff.

Takes forever to move up, always an excuse why they can't give raises or bonuses, etc, etc

Not sure what kind of experience you have..a buddy of mine was hired into Axiall service crew with an opportunity to test and train and bid into operations there. I think they started him at $20/hr. They were hiring a bunch. He says its not bad, especially someone with no industry experience. If your just trying to get into industry.

I see they're continuing the Shaw tradition of putting incompetent good ol baws at the top and somehow making money in spite of themselves.

That's because the baws book the work. The actual work is an afterthought.

They bought Shaw and Shaw was kind of fcked up at the time.
My fear is they have shitty mgmt and they have bit off more than they can chew with all of the work in Lake Charles alone.

To the OP, my guess is HR is overwhelmed and their hiring process will be slow.

My wife (no pics) just got hired on over there. It took about 3 weeks for them to actually hire her. Call HR and follow up on your resume. They have to follow a bunch of corporate procedure bs to actually hire someone.

There was always a joke at Shaw:

If you were a starter on the LSU football team, you were guaranteed a job at Shaw.

George Bevan was a great example. That guy had no business running a McDonald's much less an entire division of a Fortune 500 company.

CB&I doesn't give a frick about LSU so those days are done. Maybe that will happen again at Epic.

Much appreciated. Thank you.

Can you provide a number. I'm struggling finding one online. Thanks again.

Every time I had an interaction with that guy, he had about a dozen handlers trying to tell him what was going on. I swear they had to remind him what his name was 90% of the time.

All companies do this now. You apply online and they send you a generic reply stating they received it. It simply goes into a database of resumes, and doesnt mean much of anything. Best bet is to figure out a point of contact and email them directly, or go to their office and hand deliver a resume.
