Brutal to watch... dude didn’t have a chance. When I think of all of the surf fishing that I’ve done off Grand Isle... Elmers ... Curlew and bleeding specs hanging on stringer I’m thankful to God my number didn’t come up. I think I’m done wading into the ocean above my knees.

I read a book about every shark attack ever recorded. The amazing thing was at the time ( 1990’s) there was no documented attacks on the rescuers. I think in most cases though the shark made an initial attack…usually investigative and may not have even been in predatory mode. I wrote a paper in college disputing the bite and spit hypothesis that if the victims weren’t rescued in many cases the sharks probably would return to consume the victim. Great Whites typically attack seals with a major bite and then let them bleed out…they have claws and you will see scratches all over their head.

Me and a couple buddies were surf fishing at night one time. Caught a few 22” trout but when they both broke off and went to retie at the beach I thought I’m a dumbass in waist deep water with 20 trout on my stringer. I didn’t realize how dangerous bull sharks were at that time.

Yep... don’t here about many if any shark attacks on surf fishers off La... I have a feeling it’s just a matter of time the way shark attacks seem to be increasing.

I hear you, but in the situation in the video posted in Egypt, there’s a 0% chance anyone would swim up to a giant Tiger shark in a full blown frenzy.
Oh you’d have to be an absolute moron to jump into the water to save him. Basically suicidal.

But most of us would do it for our children, spouse or family member.

I think La has one documented attack a few years ago at the Chandeleurs. I am pretty sure a surf fisherman. I had a stringer bitten once. Probably a small sand bar or blacktip but still scary.

Shark consciousness has been rapidly evolving over the past several decades and scientists aren’t sure why. One theory says they have reached the threshold level of awareness regarding how bad humans have been fricking them over.

My brother had shark go after his stringer and got the hell out minus a couple of keepers! Said he felt the stringer tug against his waste a couple of times and new it was time to split.

Yeah every time I think about wade fishing I think about stories like that and am good with catching fish from the boat or roadside.

We should kill all sharks. Worthless creatures.
