Thanks for the info. Please keep me posted on how it goes for your family.

My friends daughter was there for a wedding and pretty much the entire group is still stuck there. The groom’s family is working with Project DYNAMO to get the entire group out asap. Hoping they can get it done quickly.

Yeah. Those flights are great if you can get in one.

His hands are on the prop controls and his focus seems to be divided between the engine instrument panel and the radar screen to his left.

Project DYNAMO is heading to the area and we expect the entire wedding party to be back on US soil by 11:00 am this morning!

Same situation with my people. Some other organization is picking them up though and I think they'll be in Tampa by mid afternoon. The generator is either out of diesel or will be out within a few hours, so they're getting out right on time.

Dorian was something. Most powerful I've seen on video. Interested to see the footage from Josh on Melissa. What I've seen of the aftermath isn't as bad as Dorian was, but I don't think we've seen the worst yet.

And we just got the last NHC advisory for Melissa as it goes post-tropical after producing hurricane force winds over Bermuda yesterday.

Did your people get out today? Ours did not. There was a miscommunication when the WiFi went down and there are still stranded there.

They’re at the Kingston airport, supposed to get on a plane tonight.

They said the bus caravan they were apart of went back to Montego Bay to get more people, and felt like the resort has been misleading them about the condition of Montego Bay. I think a lot of people remaining at the resort believe that they’ll be able to fly out of Montego Bay in the next couple days, and I don’t believe that’s a sure thing.

Interesting. Project DYNAMO is supposed to go back for them tomorrow morning and they are supposed to fly out tomorrow night.

I have some similar concerns about what the resort conditions are outside the shelter and what they are being told about flights out. I’m concerned that people who don’t have someone advocating for them from the US may be in for a hard road.

They were with a group of about 340 rescued by Grey Bull (?). The plane took 170 out last night, but they didn’t make the cut for the first flight I guess. They’re told the pilot has to sleep before coming back, so they, and the remainder of the second group, are just kind of waiting and seeing.

Agree that if somebody in America isn’t advocating for you, you’ve likely got a problem.

Update from Josh Morgerman since he's pretty well known to those of us that follow tropical weather on this forum. He's okay as expected for someone very experienced with hurricanes, but his reports show just how rough it is for thousands of Jamaicans.

(below is from FB but I only copied it as is since I don't have an account)

Princess Watson of Crawford, Jamaica, stands atop the ruins of her home and business, Princess Watson Grocery Store. Hurricane MELISSA's Cat-5 winds mowed the structure down. There is nothing left. Like so many residents and small-business owners here, she's going to need fast help getting back on her feet and making her business self-sustaining again. After many conversations here today, I'm wishing there was a way for folks to make targeted donations directly to folks in need.
