Cat dental issues

I have a 10 year old male cat that has severe red inflamed gums. Taking to AVS on Greenwell Springs road tomorrow. This vet does minor dental work. From what I can tell it's stomatitis and no cure for it short of full mouth dental extraction.
Does anyone in the Baton Rouge area know of a good pet dentist?

I’ve heard it all at this point. Cat gum problems.

Curt Ritchie at Perkins Road is a board certified vet dentist. Also right down the road from AVS is Crossroads. Dr. Ahr is awesome.

I’ve got a 17 year old cat with rotten molars. Doesn’t seem to bother him usually, although we thought he was going to leave us twice last year when he stopped eating for a week.
Only solution vet offered was a dentist pulling the teeth and likely costing $5000 or so. And maybe he wouldn’t make it through anesthesia. Didn’t do anything and he is fine. For now.

Our old cat has had basically all of his teeth removed. Other than being a little drooly he’s been fine.

I had most of my cats teeth pulled a while back due to a similar issue and she is just fine (if properly handled). She is indoor and doesn’t need them for soft food or even kibble. They really only need them to tear food.

I usually just get some pliers and yank them out. I did my kids the same way, saves on the dental bill

As long as you’re not sacking and drowning cats. That one guy needs to be ruined. Working on identifying and ruining that count.

Do you have pet insurance?
A lot of people do now.
If you do, you probably should ask them for names of providers in network.

I hate cats and would boot them 10’ in the air when I was a mean teenager.
