Cartoon Network to begin lecturing children to “see color” in new cartoon

A controversial new public service announcement from Cartoon Network encourages children to "see color" when they look at other kids. Only by looking through the lens of color, it says, can a person learn to be anti-racist.

"It's important to see people in all their beautiful colors. When you see color and the unique experiences that come from it, you can recognize the role racism plays in our culture and appreciate everyone and their diversity," reads the description of the ad written by the creator of "Steven Universe."

In the ad, a white and black character, along with a purple alien are enjoying a song.

"Colorblindness is our game because everyone's the same," say the song's lyrics. "Everybody join our circle, doesn't matter if you're white, or black, or purple."



At that point, the purple alien asks who is responsible for writing the song before offering up an objection.

"I think it kind of does matter that I'm purple," the alien named Amethyst says. "I mean, I'm purple because I'm literally an alien."

The black character then agrees, noting that even those she's not an alien, "it definitely matters to me that I'm black."

The white character then concurs, by acknowledging her privilege. "Yeah, it makes a difference that I'm white," she says before looking at the black girl. "I know the two of us get treated very differently."


The dialogue turns even more dramatic as the white girl continues, referencing the inclusion of a purple alien in the "colorblind" song as an intentional distraction.


"I think people like the black, white, or purple thing, because adding a fantasy race in there helps distract from the actual racism black people have to deal with," she lectures.



The black girl explains that different people of color experience different forms of racism, "but you won't see any of that if you don't see color."

The woke ad ends with the title graphic telling kids, "See color, be anti-racist!"
