Fine. I will admit I am in the wrong if you can show a quote, from this thread, thar shows someone other than you saying Carmax is the only place to get a quality car

The failure to do so will just mean that you were arguing a false narrative, were too hard headed to change your argument, double downed like a fool, then tried to fit the other posters words to match your argument.

It isn't an insult, just a factual description. Like calling a fat person fat. You are often willfully ignorant.

Nobody has said this except you. Of course you can buy a quality vehicle from almost anywhere. You’re just a lot more likely to get a high quality vehicle from Carmax.

Why not just buy cars with good records and have an independent mechanic look at it? Why put your faith in carmax over real evidence of maintenance?

I seriously doubt carmax cars are any better than those sold by reputable dealerships

I don't give a shite what you admit or don't admit.

My argument has always been you can buy equal quality at a cheaper price than Carmax. Feel free to twist it however you want. That's always been my argument, always will be my argument, and it's correct.

And that is a blanket statement that does not always hold true.

You are correct because buying a good car involves research and inspecting, not blindly buying from one place

Carmax shoppers are lazy so they aren’t going to get the best car nor the best price. It’s usually a decent car for a high price

Their no haggle policy essentially guarantees it. I have not once heard of Carmax having the lowest price. Why are are you trying to argue this so hard?

They aren't. They deal with a lot of lease returns and such.

Walking out and buying without doing research will result in a tossup. Watching their inventory can pay off. Especially if you aren't hooked on a special color or trim. Carmax seems to want to turn over their inventory so prices drop the longer on the lot.

There are exceptions to everything. Sorry, I assumed that I was speaking to adults who would infer that to be the case

You absolutely imply that Carmax offers the best quality

I don’t imply. Carmax absolutely offers the best quality used car, by in large.

Sure you can. But you will have to put in a lot more time and work to find the car you want and getting a mechanic to look at it. That’s more hassle than it’s worth.

Because their prices change. They lower prices and at times they can present the best deals.

And yet as far as I remember no one in this thread has said their price is the lowest. And by your description you have to wait months for their price to drop, hoping of course that someone else doesn't buy that exact vehicle.

Why not just spend a couple hours negotiating somewhere else and get the vehicle you want at a good price immediately?

Deal =/= lowest price.

Some people like arguing, obviously, some people would rather set price alerts on their phone. Some people don't mind paying extra for convenience since they know their time is valuable.

Everyone has their reasons.

Some may value their free time at a lot more than others do.

So they will overpay, just like I've been saying the whole damn thread. My god.

If I value my free time at $500/hr how much time is ok to waste haggling for $250?

Overpaying has many different forms. Like driving 5 miles out of the way to save .02 on gas.

Are you going to add the two months of waiting for the Carmax price to get down to that level?

Not once have I said that the cost is the only factor.

This vid is for all of the car guys out there...

How much is a 1000hp Supra Turbo worth? Took my Supra to Carmax.

That Supra is worth at least 50k...Carmax offered him an insulting 15k.

Carmax is nothing more than a stealership.

I liked the vid of a guy bringing his Bugatti there. I think they offered $250k since that is the max they are allowed to offer.

If not having the car calculates as a loss to you then you should definitley factor the price in.

I'm willing to wait for a water pail for my daughter to save money ordering on Amazon. I am not willing to save money and wait because I ran out of diapers. The personal timencost of doing cloth diapers is a deal killer for a few bucks to drive to and from the store.

Buying from Carmax without doing your research is a very bad idea. Doing your research AND buying from Carmax is the best way to go IMO. That’s not saying you shouldn’t consider other places. When I was looking for the truck I wanted, I couldn’t find it in my area through used car dealerships or private sellers. Carmax was the only place I could find it. I monitored the price until it was to my liking then I pounced.
