Looking at purchasing a 2017 suv from a dealership and it is stated as new but has a carfax associated with it. Is this possible?

FRom what I've heard, CarFax obtains info only after a car is registered.

eta i remember my dad bought-to-order a 1977 Mercury and it showed up with 34 miles on it and my dad blew a gasket & the dealer ended up charging less for it.

my dad's exact words: "I DONT KNOW WHAT HAPPENED IN THOSE 34 MILES"

Years ago I went to buy a new Siverado, and was set on a particular color. Only one they had was one that the sales manager was driving. Had like 1000 miles on it. He offered it up. I said sure. Walk in, and he shows me the contract that I had previously agreed to. Told him I don't see no price adjustment for the "used" vehicle. Some jackwad sales guy said it's still considered new. I went all Hammertime on them, and walked out.

cool story, I know

Absolutely There was a dealership in BR a few years back that got busted selling a car that was new when it was wrecked on a test drive and they repaired it

That car has been run with Dealer plates on it as a demo for someone there. It may have never been registered but the mileage has taken 22,000 miles off your warranty.

Never registered-maybe, New-NFW

The OP didn't make the comment about the 22,000 miles, so not sure if that info is legit. I thought the same as you before looking at who posted what.

Looks like someone bought it and didn't pay the bills. That car is not new. It was registered as a personal vehicle, and bought with a loan
