Yeah, supposedly they are going to start holding kids on second offenses if the first offense is still not resolved in the legal system. We will see.

To everyone saying leave your car open... these kids aren't smashing windows. If it's locked, they just move on to the next car.

Not necessarily true. They’re definitely smashing windows, even during daylight hours.

An old co-worker used to have a hunting lease down close to Eagle Pass, TX. They had a trailer on the land that kept getting broken into, but the only things stolen were food, drink, and women's boots.

He set up a camera and realized it was illegals. They would break into the trailer to spend the night. Eat and drink what was in there. Also, apparently a lot of Mexicans have smaller feet, so the women's boots fit well, so they would take the boots.

Eventually he stopped leaving food/drink in there as well as boots, and he left the trailer unlocked.

People still went in there at night to sleep, but nothing went missing and he was able to stop replacing broken locks.

It's a good thing you left it unlocked, otherwise the youts would've left you with a shattered window and $300 repair bill like they did to me on Monday night.

One of our watch party members Monday night had a back window broken out and car rummaged through while parked outside the bar we were in. This was in Houston.

These kids are smashing windows but I think it’s around the fountain blue area.

I’m surprised that no one mentioned the shooting that happened uptown last week. It was on the corner of Burthe and Hilary, right outside my house. frick that shite. They said it was a drug deal gone wrong and closed the book. No mention of it otherwise.

There are juveniles with over 3 dozen arrests roaming the streets with impunity. They know that all that will happen to them is they check into the Bayou St John Holiday Inn and then mom signs them out.

When a mom signs out one of these wonderful children out she agrees to monitor the child and if the child is away from her she is supposed to notify police. The law needs to be changed so that these mothers are CRIMINALLY responsible for any crime committed by these juveniles after sign them out.

I would put razor blades under my door handles as a preventive measure but am certain I would forget about it one day and cut myself.

It was a drug deal gone bad but that corner had been dicey for a while. The Tulane crowd supposedly goes there to score drugs.

I’ve lived on that corner for five years and it’s just started getting bad in the last six months. We’ve had swat, multiple ambulances, LSP showing up all hours of the night.

I just don’t get the sharp increase in these smash windows break ins compared with a decade or so ago. New Orleans has always had crime issues but what’s up with this trend?

It’s not like cars are a new thing. They’ve been around for decades now but we’ve never seen an epidemic like this before.

This isn't just a NOLA thing. I've seen a dramatic increase in smashed windows the past year here in Houston.
