Well the shirt situation I was referring to was a woman I work with (she does have a job) who lost 3 children in a car accident. Friends/family did a gofundme page and the tshirt sales to help raise money that could be used to pay for funeral expenses(think about how much that is for 3 children) and as a way to show support for her during that time. The money raised also allowed for her to take extended time off of work to grieve and still be able to care for her other child.
I understand that she probably needed the money, but who really wants to wear a t-shirt with dead people on it, especially if it's someone else's family? Seems morbid IMO, and I'd rather just donate the $15-$20 straight to her in that case. But I didn't even want to re-wear the plain black dress I got for my father's funeral, so maybe I'm weird.
As far as the memorial car stickers, the ones for Mawmaw and Auntie Rae who were really old are the ones that I truly don't get. As the years pass, more and more of your elderly relatives will die, so how do you decide who deserves a "place of honor" on your window? Or do you just keep adding until there's no more space? The child stickers are sad but a little more understandable, and hopefully you won't have more than one child die.

Personally I would never do it especially when its a 2 yr old. It brings attention to yourself and what statement is someone really making by putting them up on their vehicle?

Saw one of those memorial t-shirts once with the young man's picture on it, (naturally), with the words
Deceased's Name
Birth/Death dates
"Straight Thuggin'"
I couldn't help thinking if there were a little less thugging going on, there would be no need for the t-shirt.

I agree with you. This phenomenon is more urban and hispanic.

It's a form of attention whoring. So that everyone driving behind them knows they lost a loved one.
Guess what, everyone knows someone who died.

A tattoo of the deceased and their birth/death date is more appropriate.
Which trailer park do you currently reside?
