Suburbans come in at $75k. That's an overpriced piece of crap. LCs are about $5-10k more. For the reliability and build quality that's a bargain. Also, you'd easily be able to pick your car out in a school parking lot.

What does the Lexus do that the LC doesn't?

And the LC will hold it's value forever. A 1998 LC costs over $10k at least... TODAY. How many vehicles that cost $45k are worth $10k 16 years later? That same money can get you a 2007 Expedition or a 2006 Suburban. And neither of those vehicles has anywhere near the capability of a Land Cruiser.

I'm not sure you understand the definition of bargain.

Any car can look nice when it's new. LCs hold their value so well because everything in them is built to last. It's really not even debatable. There is a reason I can buy a 2007 LTZ Suburban for $14k ( LINK), but the cheapest 2007 LC within 500 miles of me is $25k ( LINK), and I'm fairly certain that price should be $35k based on the others.

I could give 2 rat shits about older models... OP was referring new ones... I own a 07 suburban and the '15 is light years ahead to the old models in technology, ride and capability.. as far as holding value that's has in part to do with availability.. Suburban vs LC manufacturing #'s is the reason..

Those were new models once upon a time. You don't think the new LC is light years ahead of the 2007?

And what has the new Suburban done in terms of improving off road capability?

It has more to do with the quality of the vehicle. Chevy makes a shitload of Corvettes, and they seem to hold their value just fine.
