25% tariff or whatever the percentage does not mean that much added to the end product. Posters in general need a basic economics course to understand real world monetary policy. Just like the stock market is moved by speculation from brokers.
Not a direct reply to OP BTW, just a general response.

Arthur Laffler an Economist who received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from Trump, said the 25% tariffs would add ~$4711 to vehicle costs and could cause irreparable damage to the U.S. auto industry.

Smart. You know the prices for those are going up as well right? That whole supply and demand thing.

My 15 year old sure as hell isn't getting a new car.
Even if I can afford it.
I’m wondering if used car prices will go up also since more people may be going that route instead of a new car. Demand drives the price up.

I just went and test drove new SUVs today.
Posted on 3/29/25 at 6:46 pm to fareplay
I won't be needing a new car anytime soon but I'm pretty sure the only one I'll be able to afford by then will have about 200,000 miles and a big dent in the side.

Most posters are well read though personal beliefs may interfere with comprehension. That said, there is a large segment of the population that believes the tariff percentages equate to the rise of product costs. A recent interview of Ronnie Lamarque had him starting that vehicle prices would not rise much if at all in the interim as manufacturers adapt to the ramifications of tariffs. I would believe a successful dealer who has 50 years in the business with domestic and import brands.
