His logic is "my proof of insurance says 4/8". How will other company find out?

That's not how it works... His policy reinstated at a specific time after the crash occurred. If he tries to lie he will be committing insurance fraud

Well, the cop is stupider than your friend so there's that.

Maybe it's different in Louisiana, but they run everyone's information in Georgia. Regardless of who was/wasn't at fault in the accident.

Yes, sharing your risk with a large pool of policy holders that have similar risk is such a crock of shite. Jesus you're fricking retarded.

Is your friend aware that you are blabbing on here about his committing insurance fraud? If I was doing illegal stuff, I don't think I would like friends posting about it online.

Georgia is a state that actively reports insurance info to the DSS. They can pull your insurance info by your DL in Georgia.

That's what I thought, but I'm not that knowledgeable of Louisiana law.

Does your friend have a sticker on his car that says DILLIGAF?

Doesn't matter what the cop does, the other company absolutely will check to see if he's insured before issuing any payment. They'll see the accident occurred at 11:00 am, and his poilicy was magically effective at 11:58 am.

Well, it is pretty obvious the friend isn't a Mensa member.

I'm pretty sure someone is having to read him the responses.

Very slowly...

So your friend had the money to pay for insurance, he just didn't want to. (dumbass) He should get full coverage and drive his car into a tree.

Neither are Louisiana cops, so don't feel bad.

Absolutely. As an adjuster myself, that his proof of insurance states the same date of the accident immediately sends up a red flag that will be investigated. His friend is fricked.

True, the friend might have even asked the OP to post this topic.

OP.....you might need to seriously look at who you are friends with and start making some cuts. Unlike family....you can choose your friends.

Only someone who knew that they were uninsured would go and try and buy a policy immediately after an accident.

In addition to this whole ordeal, I hope the OPs friend is moderately inconvenienced at a later date.

Exactly. I'm still confused as to why the reporting officer doesn't have him listed as an UM on the report, but oh well. He'll still feel the long, hard shaft of the insurance carrier in the end and rightfully so.
