Anybody regret getting them? Is there any down side to them, other than one less seating option?

I've got two kids in car seats, so is there any disadvantage with kids or car seats? Seems it would be a lot easier to let them access the 3rd row when they're older

It appears to be a little more challenging to find local inventory with the captain's chairs, so I'm wondering if I'm just better off getting one with bench seating

MIL (no) bought one last year. She doesn't like when you fold down the second row that there's a gap between the chairs.

2nd row captains chairs is the only option. I built a little box for gap in center when folded, it’s a non issue for me

Had captains chairs with a 2008 Acadia and now with a 2019 Enclave. Love the look and the easy access to the 3rd row. My 2 kids always loved them and grew to like them more over the years --- esp. with sports and activities with their friends. Never had any issues. No regrets whatsoever.

Don't do it!

I did it for the exact same reason and regret the hell out of it. My reasoning for looking at them was the exact same as yours.

Captains chairs are the only option for 3 row SUVs IMO.

Depends on family size IMO. If only a family of 4, captains chairs are fine since you can have the 3rd row folded and still maximize cargo space while moving everyone.

If a family of 5, I would find the 2nd row bench better for the same reason.

But as a general rule I prefer captains chairs.

We had captain's chairs for 16 years. Never once regretted them especially with kids. Separation is good. Lol

I remember my grandparents’ big ole car.

Had a front bench seat that ran from door to door.

It was like a sofa in a car.

Yeah, true, or you just pick your favorite 2 of the 3.

I've had one with bench for middle seat, and now 2 with Captain's chairs. Won't ever get a bench again.

Thanks for the responses everyone. Sounds like a consensus. I'll keep looking.

I was previously willing to look out of state and just book a cheap flight and drive one back, but unless they're willing to give Corona exposure discounts, I'm back to just looking around South LA

Had an '08 Explorer and now a '14 Armada, both with bench seat and only 1 child. I still very much prefer it that way to maximize cargo space to be able to keep the 3rd row folded down when we have grandparents or friends visiting from out of town and we can all ride together. Not that captain's seats would be the end of the world, but just not me or my wife's preference.

Family of 5 here. This. I have buckets and wish I had the bench. Tahoe.

I do not see why they make SUVs without captain chairs on the second row.

With two kids in car seats I would have preferred a bench seat in the middle. Mainly for road trip so the wife could move back there and feed or keep them happy.

This was when they were really little and rear facing. Now that the youngest is 3 and more self sufficient then it’s not a big deal
