You mean the surgical waiting room where they are waiting to have surgery? Seriously?

Have you ever been to an outpatient surgery center??

The waiting room is also where the mandated other person to drive the person having surgery home has to wait while their friend/family/whatever is having surgery. The person having surgery will wait there maybe 30 minutes tops before they are brought back and all the preop stuff is started before their surgery. While the person NOT having surgery has to wait in the waiting area.

The waiting area is more for the people NOT having surgery. Therefore...it should be aimed at keeping those people comfortable.

I've been to a handful of these for outpatient surgeries for myself and loved ones. ALL of them had some sort of beverage area with coffee and/or water set out for those not having surgery.

Fasting doesn’t mean black coffee.

NPO does mean no coffee though.

NPO= NOTHING by mouth (only baby bird sips of water if you need it to take any medication while NPO).

Then LA must have some seriously inefficient waiting rooms because every time I’ve brought my kids in for outpatient surgeries we’ve been there much longer than 30 minutes

I would say so.

Each outpatient procedure I've had or a loved one has had...we've waited 30 minutes tops after the scheduled time we were told to be there. Then the person having surgery was brought to the back where IV was started, etc.

Jesus. What’s next. Guys walking into a restaurant and saying they are recovering alcoholics, so everyone put the booze away.

Get fart spray instead and hit a spray right by the reception window where no one sees you do it and walk away

SFMC is the same company and they don't care if you bring in food or drink.

It’s actually an OSHA regulation. I enforce it where I work but none of my coworkers do. I’m the bitch. Sorry I misread. Can’t bring it into pre-op. Our waiting room has it.

Well maybe the person thats fasting should be considerate and instead of asking a person to change what they are doing maybe just maybe the fasting person should remove themselves from the room instead.

If i walked into a room and someone stated "dont bring that coffee in here im fasting" i would prolly just ignore said person and sit my coffee drinking arse down on a chair. If he were to request it again i would open the door and let him know that there is no coffee outside the door.

Exactly. If I'm the one performing some out of the ordinary human behavior, I'm sure AF not going to ask an actual normal person to change what they are doing for my sake.
