I'm not gonna call yall stupid for living there. I assume most of you have friends and roots in the city and it's not always easy to leave home, but damn if j can't see the appeal of that city at all. Then again I live in BR so it's only a little better.

Damn shame what's become of yalls city.

Shouldn't the same logic apply to Houston as most of that city flooded with a tropical storm?

If I had to pick between the 2, which I wouldn't, I'd pick Houston. Get to live in a much better run state with a better economy and world class energy. NOLA has good food and I guess if you want to count the culture and it's uniqueness, which i think its losing anyway. Also Houston is one of the major Metropolitan areas in the country and NOLA is just a kinda big city so they're not really comparable anyways. But since we are comparing them, and think if you add up all the pros and cons of both assuming I have to deal with floods in both, Houston wins.

you’re mocking a natural disaster

It's not a natural disaster. Those pumps have never worked in 40+ years. Not a single time. There's always an excuse.

No

Looks to be the third highest total just since Katrina. It was alot of rain but the significance of the flooding in JP is still odd

Why they haven't worked out the kinks of potential power outages and pumps going down is beyond me.

It’s complicated. The power generation for the pumps is so old that it works off a non standard voltage, and there really aren’t parts for the transformers anymore, they have to get them made at an extraordinarily expensive cost. The price to redo it all would be in the billions

They must’ve worked in 1995 because we did not flood in mid city

Where did you live?

I bet if I dug deep enough, I could find out that billions in federal funds have been allocated overtime to re-vamp the system several times over but all the money has been swindled and stolen by local politicians and their buddies.
