There is a voluntary certification group that tries to ensure the pharmacies that are members are selling only high quality drugs. CIPA. I have used 3 or 4 different pharmacies off CIPAs list over the years and all have been good. Many canadian pharmacies stopped accepting visa/mastercard a couple years ago and only accept American Express.

My wife uses Big Mountain Drugs. I use Maple Leaf Meds. They are very thorough - they need a copy of your drivers license, a cancelled check for banking info, they call and very all refills, etc. These were pharmacies that our doctors directed us to use.

With gastroparesis, her stomach doesn’t empty. The result is that she is constantly nauseous - rarely throws up, but always feels on the verge of it. She’ll go months barely able to eat anything but a few crackers on most days. Basically she was like, “If this is my life, I no longer want to live.” She’d go to work, feel miserable all day, then go to bed the minute she got home. Stay in bed all day on the weekends. For her, it’s worth the risk. With the medication, she still has to limit what she eats and how much, but at least she feels somewhat normal and can function.

While most of what he said doesn't happen anymore, drug reps and their employers still waste a shite load of money. I know a person who is a rep, and I know what "perks" he gets. His family hasn't paid for a vacation since he took the job. He uses the company credit card everywhere. He flies all over the country when, as he has admitted multiple times, his job could be done over the phone most every day.
So, while the doctor kickback nonsense has been curtailed, there remains gross waste in that line of work that continues to be passed down to consumers.

I might understand more than he thinks.I was a nurse for 35 years.I knew at least a dozen pharmaceutical reps,used to go fishing and hunting with a few.Pharmaceutical reps are like a lot of people,they talk too much and tell things they probably shouldn’t.
I realize a lot of the promotional largesse they showered on Drs.has been curtailed,lots of it was truly outrageous.Some of them were actually ashamed of the things they did to promote their drugs,I guess the pay and bonuses were too lucrative to walk away from.Talking about it was somewhat of a catharsis,I suppose.
My point about the lunches,why is it necessary to bring lunch for the whole clinic all the time.Give the Dr. samples and promotional literature.Let the drugs stand on their own merits,if the cheaper drug works just as well,prescribe it.

I wanted to follow-up with y'all. My friend used one of the recommended companies from this thread.
