I am headed up North for a trip and some friends want me to bring some local coffee however I am not sure if they will let me put it in my carry on. It will be and unopened new packages so I'm thinking it should be OK. However the one pound brick of coffee grounds looks a whole lot like a kilo of drugs.

I don't think that'll be an issue

Maybe, but TSA isn't looking for drugs.

If you Google the title of this thread the first link is the TSA's website explaining that coffee grounds can be brought on a plane. TSA answer

It's not a banned item, but drug runners use coffee to hide drugs and the dogs have gotten wise to it, so you could get a false positive.

You should look at NetJets if you have the means.

I'd suggest to pack it on top or even separate it from your bag for the bag scan. I had a pack of Oak Grove dry mix jambalaya that looked suspicious in the x-ray, but once they saw what it was it was nbd.

Plus, they're usually wrapped in foil so they're going to fricking GLOW on that x-ray.
