It is a quarter system. Most students go three quarters a year. The fourth quarter is the summer quarter and most skip that one like college students at most other universities skip the summer session.

Appears to be three 10-week semesters versus two 15-week semesters.
Tech: Starts 2-weeks later and ends 2-weeks later.
Starts 9/6 ends 11/16.
Starts 11/29 ends 2/27.
Starts 3/7 ends 5/18.
It gives 1.5 weeks for Thanksgiving, gives 2 weeks off for Christmas/New Years (mid semester), and one week at the beginning of March.
LSU:
Starts 8/21 and ends 12/22.
Starts 1/10 and ends 5/5.
It gives a 2 days in October, 2.5 days for Thanksgiving. 3 weeks off for Christmas between semesters. A week for spring break at end of March.
Guessing about the differences...
Quarters are faster paced and the material is condensed. Usually fresher in your mind and not as much "re-learning" studying needed at end of semester. Fewer classes per semester.
Semesters have more classes but go at a slower pace. So, more volume but not as intense. May need to refresh on material covered at the beginning of the course, but the extra time gives more of a chance to learn the material.

Tech has quarters. Start in September. Fall, winter, and spring quarters equals 2 semesters. Summer is the 4th quarter.

trimester=phases of pregnancy

If he’s not feeling it during the second trimester he can abort. Some places let you do it during the third trimester

Without a doubt. I've done both and quarter system is the best.
Classes are a little longer and it's faster pace, but just about everybody only takes the max of 12 hours a quarter. (8 is considered full time).
Edit: T/TH classes are 1:50 long. It's miserable, but it was rare to be kept the whole time. Except for the teachers who are just so damn in love with themselves and love to hear their own voice, nobody wants to teach that long.
