It's kids playing baseball and they travel to tournaments.

That's about it. It isn't difficult to understand.

It's yet another false narrative that all of these kids are just playing one sport.
as I said in the travel ball thread, I live in Farragut, TN. And a vast majority here do travel in one sport only. And most times they get burned out when they get older.

Unless your son isn’t playing high school baseball which would be kind of strange, that is incorrect. I played in college and no several former teammates who coach on staffs in the South

You are absolutely correct, it’s the excuse given by the obsessed families who play in 30 different World Series or State tournaments every year

How?

And what if the kid wants to play in middle or high school but doesn’t make the team in his one sport?

Yup, it's more for the parents than it is the kids.

Generalizations about travel ball are just as bad as travel ball.

I don’t know about all that, but playing one sport year round significantly increases the incidence of overuse injuries , especially in developmental years

wasting your time bro

got a bunch of idiots on here who will say the falling

1) they only play 1 sport----which is false for 90%+ of kids playing travel, atleast through 12

2) its big time expensive-- false for most because 85% of teams are AA and only play within an hour. and again...why the frick people on this board concern themselves with how others spend their money blows my mind!

3) its living through your kid---- I dunno what to say about this...if th ekid wants to play baseball in HS, there is no other option.

4) it hurts rec ball---- WHO GIVES A frick!! frick REC BALL and frick THE PEOPLE WHINING ABOUT IT!

5) REC Ball is the best way---- well then quit whining and put your kid in rec...can make fun of all the other parents at the HS tryout for spending money on travel while your kid runs circles around the travel kids

6) they are going to scream that they know a kid that threw 180 pitches 3 weekends in a row.....complete lie unless its some random tournament. 2d and PG both have pitch limits. limits for each day, limits to be able to pitch the next day and overall 2/3 day limits. USSSA has inning limits. 99% of kids never throw more than 75 pitches in a game until 14 and even if they could...they start walking too many.

could go on but 99% of the guys on here making fun of it either dont have kids and think it should be like it was when they were kids or there kid sucks and they are pissed about it. Like the guy making fun of a team only having 3 spots or the guy being mad its not randomly assigned. They are mad because their kid sucks, frick em.

Certain parents sure. 95% of the time I'm pissed off to be there. I'd rather screw around the house, swim in the pool, etc.

I've already had my travel ball, spent my youth at every ballpark between Texas and Florida. I'd say the parents that are the most into it are the ones that had 0 athletic upbringing.

Bogalusa was divided into 4 sections. Everybody had their own field and they were on teams with people in their quadrant. South east demons for life, if you ain’t from Richardson town or lees creek you can suck my balls. 1989 8/9 year old city champs how you like them apples? I struck out and got benched in the championship game but I was there.

Out of all the parks I've been to Ward 9 is probably my favorite one. Nice set up they have there. My one complaint is that there is no damn cell service.

Yeah, I've got AT&T and I know to make sure I've got my stuff loaded onto my phone if going for a long run. You can get some stuff to come through but it's a dead zone for the most part.

Other park was likely Johnny Downs. I dont know if people still use the parks near bringhurst.

Yeah, I remember when I was a kid. We played the particular sport of that season. I was better in some sports than others, but it did not keep me from trying them all out. That's just the way it was and I am glad I got to enjoy sports that way.

Yea, this doesn’t happen

The OT’s obsession with youth baseball is fricking weird. Y’all just parrot what other people say and add on to it and it spirals out of control into the narrative we have now

Is it bad in some cases? Yes
Do coaches and parents make it more than it should be? Absolutely

But it’s nowhere near the net-negative that TD makes it out to be. Not even close

and it still is for 90% of teams

practicing once or twice a week in the fall oct- first week of dec doesnt change that. play 1-2 tournaments in the fall doesnt change that either

just because the kids you know in one little arse town in BFE tenn doesnt change that.

didn't we just have this thread?

the OT: Kids never play outside anymore!

also the OT: these kids are playing outside too much and not the right way!

Big school (5A) sports is extremely competitive, you have to be and stay good to play.
