Chapman is a D3 powerhouse, no?

They were ranked #22 but we swept them. I believe that have some D3 championships.

Congratulations. They won it as recently as 2019.

Rec ball is pretty much dead just about every where. Low level travel ball (which is what majority of kids play) is just the replacement for rec ball. It's little to no travel, and it's not as expensive as people will try to make you believe

Every player on LSU current baseball team played travel baseball

yep...i pay for private to keep my kid away from the shite heads, at least through 8th grade

yep...i pay to have my kid play with better kids than yours
why would i want my kid to be around average people in any life endeavor?

You are going to get the same old tired sayings from the same group of posters who think they are being cool on an internet message board.
Rec ball is pretty much dead just about every where. Low level travel ball (which is what majority of kids play) is just the replacement for rec ball. It's little to no travel, and it's not as expensive as people will try to make you believe if you are on a team like that. 99% of parents aren't putting their kids in travel ball with MLB dreams.
It's simply the only place to play to get better at the game right now in most places.
I think this is the best response to the OP. It definitely can get too much and you have to treat it and your child correctly but the days of playing YMCA, little league or anything like that and only playing those are basically over. This not only applies to baseball but really most other sports. You are also seeing, which I don't think is good, a singular focus on sports for kids at a very early age. I do think this is due to the afformentioned move to travel style formats for all sports and due to the time commitment/money, most families can't do more than 1 sport.

how in the world could you even know enough to agree OR disagree?
am i not allowed to have friends who have kids in travel ball? or patients? or clients?

you didn't play
i played travel basketball back in the day... of course, this was way before it was as big and common as "travel teams" (in whatever sport) are now., but yeah, i have some experience with travel team competition

There are parks that are getting to a hybrid type option where they are doing travel teams that play in outside tournaments. Adapt or die.

that's cool... gives other options, i guess... but some travel ball parents will still think their shite don't stink and that they are clearly superior to everyone else, b/c that's just how it goes for some of these people...

So in other words zero experience with it.

if it makes you feel better about yourself, bro... sure.... let's go with that... i don't care enough to argue with you about it, and this conversation doesn't mean nearly as much to me as it clearly does to you...
so yeah, whatever it is you need me to say, just pretend i said that, and go with it...

let me be very clear, there are tons of rec parents that stink shite up constantly and all day long. this ain't a one side of the situation, parents act more type of way than the other side. tons of clueless rec parents out there.

there absolutely is, for sure, some crazies in rec league... but in my experience, and i have 1 in rec league, and 1 in travel ball, right now actually, and the travel ball crowd definitely has more of them... granted it's not EVERY one, but there are definitely more in that crowd... i know there's better competition in the travel ball circuits... its not debatable, so that's not even a point of contention i'm trying to address, but in terms of shite head and unrealistic parents, travel ball takes the fricking cake and its not even close, honestly

from my experience and only in Louisiana as houston its different but
lower level of travel you go...crazier the parents. high levels just are usually like whatever...see you again in 2 weeks to play again as there are not many per age group
seems opposite of what you would expect
also the older they are..calmer the parents usually

and that may be... not sure... most of the parents i have interaction with are 13 or so, and under... but yeah, some of those people are fricking nuts... i actually get embarrassed, for them....

honestly, don't know... i just know their kids play damn near every weekend, somewhere, as far away as Florida, Dallas, etc... and they get obscenely big rings when they win some meaningless tournament

so whatever circuit that is, then it's that
