God's Country. Luckily when I move there, probably gonna be Fairhope, I will not have to worry about work.

It's a nice area but good luck getting a quality meal around there unless you are a damn good cook. Otherwise, the options are pretty limited in restaurant selection.

OK, I'm distraught right now that no one has mentioned Gulf Breeze.

GB is basically a suburb of Pensacola. Housing pricing is comparable if not cheaper than Baton Rouge, you have to go through Gulf Breeze to get to Pensacola Beach.

My wife and I live in Gulf Breeze and it's 13 minutes from where I live to the beach. Gulf Breeze Proper(the actual town itself) is 4 minutes from the beach.

Or you can try Fairhope and Daphne and still be a hour away from the beach and become an Alabama fan.

Gulf Breeze is minutes from the Beach, 15 minutes (sometimes less) from Pensacola. 20 minutes to Navarre Beach, 30 minutes to Fort Walton Beach, 30 minutes to Perdido Beach/Orange Beach, 45 minutes to Destin.
Extremely safe, A rated public schools, etc...

Man, I lived there for 18 years. The last few years were the awkward, horny, puberty years and I didn't know this existed? Where is this located?

I feel like I missed out!!!

You definitely can't go wrong with Perdido, Orange beach, Gulf Shores, Fairhope, Daphne or Spanish Fort.

Except for the fact they are all Alabama and not state of Florida.

I live in the the destin area, downtown Pensacola is going through a nice rejuvenation. They have a civic center that gets a good bit of concerts and what not. The town of Pensacola is okay it certainly has large lower class areas but certainly not like Nola and easily avoidable. They also have the Blue Wahoos minor league baseball a couple blocks from downtown.

I'm not saying Floridas government is great but after spending 5 years at Auburn I'd never live in Alabama again.

Lived in Pcola for a year 2011-2012 for school. Absolutely loved it during spring and summer. Not a lot going on in the winter and escambia county was I think the poorest country in Florida at the time. Certain area of downtown were pretty rough but gulf breeze was really nice. Lots to do in spring and summer if you're a beach goer. I'd move back in a heartbeat.

Baldwin County is so much different from the rest of Alabama that it's almost a whole different state.

Good jobs are very hard to come by there but of you get one then you can live a good life especially if you like the water.

let's not get carried away. There are still Loxley, Robertsdale, Elberta, Silverhill, Bay Minette, Stockton and Stapleton which all up in Alabama.

Fairhope, Daphne are really nice communities but still almost a hour from the beach. Gulf Shores, Orange Beach are great.

These travel times are all based on a Sunday morning at 4 AM in the winter, not during any of the tourist season.

I grew up in the breeze, worked summers on the beach and traffic and tourist suck. The breeze is a great place to raise a family especially if you love the water.

Winn Dixie in Perdido =/= to Perdido Key or beach.

It's at least another 10 minutes to the beach from Winn Dixie (unless we're talking in the middle of the night with no traffic).
