Can an HOA make you water your yard?

Seems like they were keeping it cut just not watering it. How would your HOA handle this?

ETA: letter is not directed towards me. Just interested.

Yes.

And that's not from an HOA - but I'm sure you know that.

If they did not protect the interest of the neighborhood they could be sued for costs related to loss of property values. Just water the dang yard. It’s not that hard to make three turns on the valve.

I’d water that yard with a few gallons of Roundup.

Only the ones that don’t use cuss words in their passive aggressive letters.

Probably, there is likely a vaguely worded paragraph in the HOA agreement that refers to upkeep of lawns and property which they will interpret to mean including watering your lawn or not having a dead grass.

That's a real professional HOA...

Why is that email a reply? What is the original message?

On old Carl’s yard and both his neighbors as well. I might even use weed and grass killer in a backpack sprayer.

We got a letter within the first week of moving into our home 7 years ago. Previous owners moved out before it sold and didn't set the sprinklers or maintain the yard, so the grass was in bad shape by the time we moved in. Letter said we needed to make an effort to revive the yard or have it resodded immediately.

Pissed me the frick off that they suggested such extreme measures, and clearly waited until new owners were in to do it. We did resod, but that was the plan all along and we received monetary consideration in the purchase for the cost of the sod and installation.

Haven't had another interaction with the HOA since, but it still annoys me.

This is going to be tough on you, but all those letters and texts you see on Instagram posts or Reddit are all made up

Water your yard and then poison everyone else’s yard.

You’ll have the only green yard on the block.

Pretty sure that's the name of the neighborhood.
