Hotel says we cannot extend our stay, but we are under mandatory evacuation. Can they legally do this?

Staring Motel always has the vacancy sign on.

Presumably other people have the room booked and they might have It booked because they’re evacuating too

You have to evacuate, doesn't mean you have to evacuate to their property.

It doesn’t matter what is going on where you’re from. Unless the hotel has some type of state contract to house you (because you’re a poor) they can do whatever they want.

If you don't have a room booked I'd imagine they can.

do what they say just be sure to pee on the carpet and matresses before you leave.

It’s a private business that may have reservations already or anything else really
It sucks but if they say you gotta check out you have to check out.
Evacuees are not a protected class and I’m not aware of any state voucher program that requires the hotel to extend the term of your stay beyond the original agreement

During Katrina they did it to paying customers.

Depends on the hotel for sure. I'm currently booked at a Holiday Inn in Lake Chuck for the next week or so. Doing storm restoration over there with Lily, Inc. Last night they slid a note under the door saying "We're closing due to the storm. Get yo arse outta here by Thursday PM." Note said they'd get with our travel department once they determined whether/when they could reopen. We tried to see if they'd hold a room open for some guys who are riding out the storm over there, and they declined.

Quit causing problems and they won’t
You can’t grill burgers in your room or smoke weed. You also can’t blare your fricking music

What you have to do is lay a twenty on the counter and ask him if they have a room now.

Depending on the state they have to honor your stay even if it extends beyond original departure date. But you have to pay for it obviously.

Weld the door shut and use a bed sheet rope from the windows
Your room until the underpaid hotel manager bothers to do anything with that shite show (aka never).
