When I came by this wreck yesterday on my way home I could see the bike laying in the left hand lane of the southbound side. Next to it was a body laying in the road with a sheet over it.

On my way into the office this morning when I came by I could still see the stain where he had been laying. I’m hoping it was oil but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t. There is a traffic light at this intersection. But all week it has been flashing yellow for the main highway traffic and red for traffic coming from the side road. Not sure who was a fault but the rider was killed when he hit a pickup truck in that intersection. Turns out the motorcycle rider was a 15 year old kid.

That’s the scene. I’m guessing the gray pickup setting in the intersection is the truck the kid hit. If that’s the case, that means the truck pulled out in front of the kid so it’s the truck’s fault.

My wife's HS boyfriend was killed in a motorcycle wreck. She still talks about him.

Care to tell us how you came to that conclustion. Do motorcycles get a pass on the whole yellow light thing?

I'm not saying you're wrong, but holy shite...that's a massive assumption based off a photo.

Who would be at fault if the 15 year old was driving illegally?

can't really tell from that pic but , the damage a motorcycle can do to a car is scary.

My dad got broadsided by a guy going 70 in a school zone. Biker died on impact. My dad had his left leg broken in 3 places and a gash in his head about 7-8 inches. the guy's head/helmet went through the driver side window. The car was bent in half.

Not if you know the intersection. See how the truck is setting? Unless he turned around he’s setting like he just pulled out of the side road and crossed the southbound lanes to turn north. At that time he had flashing red lights while traffic on the highway had a flashing yellow light. That being the case, the truck should not have pulled with the motorcycle coming. The truck has to stop, traffic on the highway does not.

But again, as I said in my OP, this is a guess based on the angle of the truck in the intersection and knowledge of the situation in that intersection at that time. I go though that intersection every day. And that light had been malfunctioning since Monday. I did notice this morning though it’s back to working now.

It sort of looks like damage right behind the cab of the truck along the bed. If that side road does not go all the way across and is just coming from the side seen in the picture, then Darth's assumption is probably correct.

I would just assume because vehicle wise, trucks are the worst drivers on the road

It’s legal for 15 year olds to operate motorcycles on the road. I was 14 when I got my motorcycle permit.
