You may not like it but as long as we keep putting out these fires and depriving nature of a chance to correct an imbalance, the fires will continue and get worse. Your parents would be wise to move.

I like how that article talks about bombing frozen rivers as well.
Have never heard of that here but they occasionally use dynamite to blow up ice dams.

there are some problems with buying major electric wires.
It takes a lot more wire to go up and down mountains that are as steep as CA mountains.
Their mountains are made of real solid, dense rock, not soft sediments.
Rains in CA cause landslides. Landslides happen UNDER suspended electric lines, bury the lines, and the slides carry the electric power grid along with them.
It's a lot easier to repair one broken wire up in the air that you can see from the ground than trying to find a break down in the ground that happens after earth quakes.
