I can't figure out if it's because we're a blue state, or the whole split title thing in 2003....

He said that people are fleeing in record numbers. Which is a lie. Also what about global immigration into California? You failed to post those stats.

So now your bragging about all the illegal immigrants fleeing into California as if that's a good thing?

I think that person was referring to how they're not taking into account all of their expenses meaning pensions. Cali isn't the only state that does that though.

Southern conservatives are global experts in places they've never been and people they've never met

Yea, because Californians never mock the south/midwest.

I've lived here for 20 years and have never been mocked for being from the south, ever. If anything I've found native Californians don't really discuss politics in mixed company at all, and they certainly aren't possessed by the crushing inferiority complex almost all southerners have and mask with contempt and anger

I work in Irvine and get many sarcastic replies when i tell people I am from rural Pennsylvania. It's just jokingly fun, but there is definitely a sense of superiority/dislike towards heartland.

I don't ever attack someone because of where they are from. I don't cast wide generalizations about people.

I’m sure that was a joke but I bet the new tax revenue from mj sales is contributing.

It's no joke. Louisiana is missing the boat. As is Mississippi, Alabama and Arkansas. How big would legalizing pot in a southern state be. I'll hang up and pull, I mean listen.

That is pretty impressive considering that state has been a financial black hole for the past two decades it seems like.

This is one of those lies that conservatives tell themselves to convince themselves that any and all liberal policies are terrible economically. California is one of the wealthiest states in the country (per capita) and a center of some of the biggest industries in the country. While many of the most conservative states are the very poorest in the country and net negative contributors to federal revenue.

Man, this is just such a silly way to look at this.... the south was still the poorest part of America (by far) even when it was solidly democratic from the 1860s to the 1980s. California has ALWAYS been among the richest states even when it was uber republican from 1850 to 1992.

A state's finances/economy cannot be deduced to "red or blue state". There are plenty of dirt poor areas of america that are dem, plenty of red areas that are very wealthy, and vice versa.

This partisan hackery is so stupid.

Fact:

1) California would be a wealthy state if run by republicans or dems.

2) Louisiana would be a poor state if run by republicans or democrats.

I 100% agree. The first southern state to legalize will see a huge influx of revenue. Sadly, AL will probably be the last the legalize.
