You have no idea. I coach HS Football north of San Francisco. This past season we received a memo from our Section saying we could no longer ask little Johnny if his mom or dad were going to eventually pick him up from practice or from an away game (Lack of $$$ only allows busses oneway to an away game.). The memo stated that too many children do not have "what we used to think of as traditional families or use those former traditional family labels for important people in their lives". The memo listed about 20 other than "traditional" combinations. The suggestion was we instead ask little Johnny "do you have a safe way to get back to where you are staying." (Also listed reasons you should not use the words "ride" or "home".)

Thank God I coach for a smaller school where we have known most of the player's families for a generation or more, of which about 50% are ranching families so we shitcanned the memo after we got a good laugh from reading it.

This is stupid, but I'm not going to get mad because it has no bearing on me whatsoever. They get what they get.
