It's their entire way of life.
Right now they are paying 5.00 a gallon for gas and their state is falling apart. That is way beyond politics and they'd push it on the rest of the country if they could. They've allowed PCU to become reality.

No but those two plus San Diego and Silicon Valley make up a huge percentage of the state’s population, hence the amount of attention paid to it.
As far as most people are concerned, Illinois is Chicago and NY State is NY City because those large population centers drown out everyone else.

I gave anecdotal evidence based off of my experience replying to a comment to someone on here. I made no such opinion on the entire state. I work with many many good people in northern cali that are very conservative. and they talk as most of the area is except for the major metro areas.
