If it’s a Chevy car, you can probably fine some brand new replacement wheels cheap on craigslist

a good degreaser and some elbow grease should get brake dust, even caked on.

from what i read, alloys cant rust
however I did run my brakes down thinking I was about to trade it in... apparently the dust can build up and it will kind of be caked on there which looks like rust

An old autodetailer told me that Top Job floor cleaner was the best to clean tires and rims..I don't know if they make that stuff anymore. Whatever you use let it soak in..

Has anyone tried a steam cleaner? Someone told me this works well and is super-easy.

Try straight super clean (in the purple jug not pre mixed) and some elbow grease.
If straight super clean won't get it off then you prob just need to take it to da house.

If it’s a raw alloy, not painted or anything, Aluma Brite. You can find it at truck stops and Ace Hardware. Eagle One Never Dull if it’s spots, can be found at Auto Zone.

I cleaned mine with Bar Keepers Friend, a scouring pad and some elbow grease. Turned out great.
