This is the problem with the "Cajun Navy" being turned into a marketing term by some.
I said this the other day to mixed reactions. There is no official "Cajun Navy". It's a concept with volunteers.
When people start making statements on behalf of an unofficial and unorganized group things like this happen.

During the flooding in BR last year a Cajun Navy sailor fell out of his boat at 9am and split his head open. The Blackhawk on station had to stop rescue efforts to airlift him to the hospital.

I'm gonna start a Coonass Air Force. Build some big arse drones with a harness strapped underneath. That way I can rescue people without worrying about being shot at.

They had some local news video yesterday filming the Cajun Navy, the reporter says ' Oh.look, they're sharing a water bottle'. They were taking rips from a vodka bottle.

And there were helicopters being shot at. My uncle's friend's cousin saw it, just no one on the helicopter did.
And Police were executing people and throwing bodies in the canals.
And SEALS were in the 9th ward.
In fact, there were two total non-police shootings during that week even reported. One resulted in an agg. batt. charge. There were no people running around shooting at rescuers, nor were there gun battles in parts of the City.

No one said there weren't any. The point is there was and will continue to be a lot of exaggeration during tragedies like these.
