I saw him flying around so I went to the airport and watched him take off and land for a few rounds. The steep descent in a plane that big was one of the craziest things I've ever seen. It looked like he was landing a C17 like a helicopter.
Here's a picture of a C17 I didn't take.

Most gorgeous heavy ever made. The short runways these cats can land on amazes me. Just lucky enough to fly them in flight simulators.

I take it you must have left your phone at home?

One of the most miserable moments of my life was doing a combat landing in a C-17. It felt like we landed about 10 times.

Got to see one show off at an air show last summer. Went from flying to taxiing backwards in what seemed like 10 feet. Absolutely nuts.

When I rejoined my company in Mosul, we stopped at Basra, Baghdad, and AL Assad I believe prior to. All combat landings.
That was the most miserable fight of my life.

when I was a Kid - the C5 was my fav large jet, but the C17 has replaced it for a while.

Assault departure: takeoff in 3500' or less, climb to 7500' while completing a 270 degree turn within a 3 mile radius or less.
BTW: saw one stay airborne while flying 67 mph (clocked by an LSP trooper during a Barksdale airshow). Amazing aircraft

The smoothest ride I've ever had, military or civilian, that wasn't a DC-10 or L-1011 was on a C-17 - now it was practically brand new and a little loud, but smooth as glass from taxi to touchdown.
Smoother than a triple 7.

the amount of reverse thrust that thing has is amazing.
