here is a legitimate question: what separates radical feminists from non-radical feminists in this day and age?

what separates Harvey Updyke from John Q. white collar Bama grad?

Since we are "so wrong" about feminism it should be easy for him to set us straight...yet he can't seem to do it.

Hope you are well

i'm talking about well read, educated and nuanced feminists who do want equality not special privilege.

Exactly what is this equality that they seek?

Women have exactly the same rights that men do. How exactly are women oppressed? I just don't see where this inequality is.

That's the answer that I want. Give me some examples of how women aren't treated equal. I'm not being a smart arse. I just want real life examples.

but why does it always have to be about feminism?

feminism is a popular cultural meme right now. the liberal media is pushing it right now to set up hillary or elizabeth "i completely lied about being native and used racist explanations to describe myself as one physically" warren

i mean we JUST lived through #YesAllWomen, quite possibly the most retarded social movement of the post-Bush era

quote:

insecure southern males don't feel threatened by existentialism,

you're using ad hom attacks

and

feminism is a real threat in that is has the ability to affect our lives in drastic ways (honestly, without even doing anything wrong). it's a much more realized, apparent, and likely threat than existential crises.

that's quite the conspiracy theory

that's not a conspiracy theory. that is literally the tenants of most modern progressive movements

inequality is a function of institutions (not individuals). individual action is minimized in importance

to cure the perceived inequality listed above, we must use government to force behaviors and distribute resources to those perceived to be disadvantaged. #CheckYourPrivilege

give me a major social issue platform that doesn't use this paradigm

I'm actively seeking knowledge here from what seems to be an expert in feministic philosophy...

I wouldn't call that lazy

And besides, I'm not even a woman. Why don't you ask them? I try to be open minded and to listen to what they have to say and be empathetic but there's only so far i can really go with that because I have no base of reference. All I know is that there is a huge difference between the feminists i have known in my life and the feminist writers i have read as opposed to the crazy loons that get posted on here and labeled as "all feminists"

it's a logical fallacy, actually. he's arguing from authority and asserting a position without basis. no basis is needed due to his elevated position (in this instance, being well read on the subject he's defending)

he cannot ever lose this argument, because he never actually makes an argument. he only makes assertions

but you can't articulate the differences...or you refuse to do so when defending the mythical beings you just referenced

My great grandfather told me he misses the days when women were treated as property

I would love to see him say that to a radical feminist's face

And statistics say that gay men make more than straight men do. You don't hear straight men bitching. And I completely ignore feminists when they start that shite.

My problem with feminism is the rape culture and always bitching about oppression.
