And DS, since you have so much "insight" into modern feminism, please explain to us how radical feminists don't constantly play the victim card, while screaming rape and claiming to be oppressed.

In other words...we want to be equal but we still expect men to pick up the heavy shite for us. They don't want equality. They want special privilege.

well okay but it really doesn't work as a criticism of modern mainstream feminism so much as it does just a criticism of society in general.

Of course it is a criticism of modern feminism. They are experts at using meme culture, and have used it extremely well on the internet and Twitter. I'd argue that they are the primary culprits of it. They aren't using modern thinkers to buttress their arguments. How many modern feminists do you think have read Beauvoir or Friedan? Or Butler, Walker, Anzaldua or many, many others?

I listened to an interview with a young, avowed Marxist who spouted the same old shite about "the system" and minorities, etc., but then claimed that the movement was one which seeks a matriarchal rather than patriarchal society.

Then I instantly understood modern pseudo-feminism. They aren't feminists at all, just little Marxist shite disturbers. We are getting a lot of these nowadays. Interesting how all of this PC nonsense and other cultural Marxism began right about the same time Bill and Hillary entered the White House.

Exactly.

Their entire philosophy is ridiculously flawed in so many ways.

I'm all for equal rights. But I'm not all for special privilege, which is what they want.

They want to have paid leave from work for menstruation. That's equality.

I'd love to read his detailed explanation of mainstream modern feminism,or whatever because am still waiting on him to educate all us misinformed folk.

i'm not talking about radical feminism. i agree they are loons. Just because Updyke and that crazy who shot her fellow gump are alabama fans, that doesn't mean all alabama fans are like that.

i'm talking about well read, educated and nuanced feminists who do want equality not special privilege.

most liberal-progressive movements are really marxist/socialist movements in disguise, from environmentalism to feminism to the race-pimp industry. it's all about redistribution of wealth from the institutions they blame for perceived inequality to their perceived disadvantaged group

that's mostly just social changes. the 70s and 80s were decades of change, and the 80s had an era of great opulence (the introduction and proliferation of the yuppie culture being THE symbol of this opulence). the recession of the late 80s/early 90s led to a more grungy, crynical culture. that's generation x

from that came the backbone of the modern social justice warriors

it doesn't even really need to be detailed...it just needs to be a basic explanation that also doesn't need another explanation.

I mean I am a statistician/mathematician by trade...I don't understand complicated philosophical concepts...

I only understood half of the shite in that wikipedia post that Slo posted

i love philosophy but why does it always have to be about feminism? can't we get a good argument about existentialism or something?

oh right, insecure southern males don't feel threatened by existentialism, so they have to bring this nonsense here every other week

here is a legitimate question: what separates radical feminists from non-radical feminists in this day and age?

i mean identifying characteristics in differences in philosophies, demarcation in ideologies, etc

and don't give me this "shades of grey" response. if you can't explain the ideologies, then they aren't really ideologies
