I like how your anecdotal evidence is due to your former car being one of the most notoriously unreliable vehicles on the road

My post was in response saying Hyundai was the worst on the road.

Ok, Google “Hyundai engine problems” and you’ll see it’s far from anecdotal. By all means, think what you want, but there’s at least two people in this thread experiencing said engine issues on top of the endless people on Hyundai forums and Reddit.

From what I understand the issues were a result of Hyundai outsourcing those motors to another company. Apparently they’re now made in house again so the belief is the issues been resolved. I guess I’ll find out in the next few years. Like i said thankfully this one has a life time powertrain and the dealer gave it to me in writing that if anything like what happened goes wrong they’ll take care of it, regardless of lawsuit or anything else.

After the engine on my Santa Fe went I heard someone’s engine in the lot at the gym doing the same thing mine was. All I could do was wince in pain.

Hyundai really improved quality almost 20 years ago (mid-00s) and in that period they have had one terrible engine. People act like Hyundai (and Kia, who came along in an improved fashion a few years after) just started making quality cars. There are plenty of engines before and after the shite one that show they can make reliable ones.

I understand the draw to these vehicles, they have all the new wiz bang gadgets, but they simply don it have the quality and longevity of Honda and Toyota. What people fail to consider is the cost of ownership. You can buy a Toyota 4 runner and drive it for years with nothing more than oil, fuel, and tires, and sell it for 85% of what you paid for it. These kias and Hyundais simply do not offer that. They are worth shite at the end of their life, assuming you don’t have service issues, you are losing way more money when you go to sell it.

Cost of ownership is a luxury concern. Poors only care what the “muntly” is. They assume they won’t have the service issues and they always claim that they will pay it off early and drive it forever. They do neither.
