Buyer Beware When Using Food Delivery Apps

On Tuesday, I used ASAP (formerly Waitr) to order dinner. It was raining, I didn't want to leave home, and I was willing to pay the extra fees. Unfortunately, my food was delivered to the wrong address. The restaurant gave me the driver's name and phone number, so I called the guy. He promised to look into it, and call me back, but he never did. After waiting a reasonable amount of time, my attempts to call the driver back were sent straight to voice mail.
It was then I learned that contact options with ASAP are limited, and not exactly easy to use. Using a chat function, I was informed that drivers are contract employees who set their own schedules, and it is their discretion whether or not to correct a mistake.
I spent probably the next hour trying to get a new delivery by using the near worthless chat function, and by attempting to call the driver who refused to take my calls. Finally, roughly 90 minutes after someone else got my food, a chat attendant gave me a refund.
Anyway, if you choose to use ASAP, GrubHub, DoorDash, or other service, check the fine print, and know that your options are very likely limited if / when a mistake is made.
Needless to say, I have no intention to ever use ASAP again. The company's stock has been de-listed by NASDAQ, as it is trading at only 40 cents per share, so with any luck, ASAP will soon be bankrupt. It couldn't happen to a better bunch of incompetent fools.

The support team typically calls the driver to find out wtf. This happened to me 2 days ago and I never talked to the driver directly.

anyone else read this in kyle's dad voice doing a yelp review?

I ate your 40-piece nuggets in the car. It was raining and I didn't want to get out again. I regret nothing.

DoorDash is by far the best IMO. Nobody else comes close.

NEVER use these services.

Maybe I've turned into a tightwad, but I've only used doordash one time....40 dollars for a sub and a brownie from Jersey Mike's.
I don't mind pizza delivery, even though the 'delivery fee' that doesn't go to the driver is a WTF? It'd be nice if that could go towards part of the tip.
Almost every drive thru is hitting you up for tips now. It's gotten to where, if I eat out at all, it's usually McDonald's...and I don't even like McDonalds all that much. But at least they aren't hitting you up for a tip for handing you a bag of food.

Why did waitr shite the bed so spectacularly compared to other apps.
It was the golden child of lafayette a few years ago.

I agree.
I try to go with ASAP because the creator is from lake Chuck. But they suck and are expensive compared to the others.

Sounds like your own stupidity comes into play here. Door dash is easy to navigate and any issues they immediately credit your account. It’s not GD rocket science

Seriously, just get up and go pickup your food.

Think because of their price structure. They were screwing vendors/sellers/restaurants.

it sounds like a good idea and is tempting to want to have your food delivered but there is no telling what these people will do with your food or whether you will even get the food at all. Is that potential hassle worth not going and getting it yourself, even when it's raining?

How can anyone not already be aware of this?
You're having someone deliver take out for you as a third party, of course things are going to get fricked up

Don't trust others with your food anymore than you have to.
