I don't agree with arresting them: LINK
It sucks that it happened but they did look, just not under the seat.
Edit: this happened in Monroe

Kid should be put in a tard zoo or wherever they teach these halfwits how to function. Send the parents too for failing him so miserably. Don't see why the bus driver is facing legal retribution.

Thatisnt why they were arrested. Paperwork has to be signed for every child getting on and getting off the bus.
This is proof they haven't been doing it and endangering children.

Where in the article is this indicated to be the case?

I helped write some of the policy. I don't need to see it in the article. Rest assured, if they are being arrested, it is more than just a kid under a seat.
They were likely caught releasing kids without signatures and this is a way for the school board to save face now that their screw up is public.

For that school board, no.
For the local board, yes.
The last few sentences of what I posted are what's important. They were caught before and it was hushed. This is public so they are being tossed to the wolves.
Scorched earth.

How did anyone in the world survive before they had to have their arse wiped for every damn thing!?
Society as a whole is too damn overprotective today. I know a lot of it is lawyers and sue happy people but damn.

So what your talking about concerns an entirely different area/district/school with no affiliation or jurisdiction over the story in the OP? Serious question.

They say Yates told them that the child had climbed under the seats in the past.

she was distracted while talking to a teacher at Sallie Humble Elementary and did not perform a complete check of the bus to see if anyone was left on it.
Not saying that they should have been arrested but they were at fault.

Correct.
But before you count it as a victory, most of the school systems statewide are emulating a particular parish for their safety rules and regs. The parish they are copying? Ouchita parish.

So if I understand this correctly, kids have to sign on to and off of a bus? What's next, electronic bracelets? Bar codes?

Either you read the article and have some sort of disdain for children with special needs
Or you didn't read the article and feel bad for not clicking the link before commenting.
Either way it made me

Close. Those with special needs or those under a certain age have to be signed onto and off of the bus. It is meant to hold the adults accountable.

They're supposed to walk the bus to make sure no kids are left on. There is a "Child checkmate Deactivation" process. At least for those in our area.

Just because something is against a rule does not make it against the law and, thereby, subject to arrest. So please enlighten us what law might have been broken.
