Just learned that Advantek had to shut down production yesterday because they can’t get one of their glue chemicals (MDI).

It’s a shitshow out there.

Why? Lack of enough supply? Tariffs/embargo’s? New regulations?

This obviously isn't building materials, but I went to a local place to get something custom framed on December 18th and it still isn't ready. Totally not their fault the materials they ordered for it are backordered and keep getting pushed back, but man. I spent $300 on it and am starting to worry I won't have a finished product.

Pricing has already gone high. This will make it go higher?

It’s apparently made in TX/LA as a derivative of O&G.

I guess maybe some plants are down.

but if you buy it a credit card and then pay of the credit card with a home equity line and then pay off that home equity line with your paycheck and then do that like 1,975 times, you'll have your mortgage paid off 2 years early

It’ll be $45 by mid April when new builds explode.

I work for Home Depot.

OSB and lumber volume has tripled for us in the past year. Comps and COGS have exponentially increased.

Now is not the time to buy wood products.

Rubicon in Geismer makes MDI. As far as I know they are still producing MDI.

When? It hasn't been cheap for months. It has been between $26 to $32 per sheet for a while now.

My cable rep just called and said they are having trouble getting resins to make the sheaths for cable. Also copper is going up, up, up and the majority comes from China, who may just cut the supply off all together.

I use 1-1/8" Advantech T&G on piling built homes. It was $44 a sheet 4/9/20. It is $72 a sheet today. It doesn't really matter at this point as you cant even get an eta on 12" square pilings. Even 10" pilings are six weeks to 3 months out.

I have a few sheets of Advantech in my garage that’s left over from a project.

I’m may need to auction it off.
