There is always water in a front loader and way more chance of mildew/bad smells coming from the washer. If your washer has a funky smell which cause your clothes to have a funky smell then doesn’t that some what defeat the purpose.

Why can’t they pump it out from the lowest point same as a top load does?

My 20 year old top load Roper washes clothes and that's all I need it to do.

Same. Would never go back to a top loader.

Same here. 29 year old whirlpool top load. Lid switch bypassed so I can add clothes anytime during cycle. Or open lid and watch it spin. Still get a kick out of that.

Ours is great but the damn doors are opposite from the wall hook ups. It annoys me every time I change loads. Been mad for 10 years

I’d burn the entire house down

I bought LG front loaders when we bought this house. I did zero research. The washer torpedoed itself in about 5 years. Replaced it with a Speed Queen. I'm about to toss the dryer too.

Thought about this because of a thread on the home & garden board.

It's an LG, it's been running for years, and it cleans our clothes well. We clean the drum and the seals often and we leave the door slightly open when it's not in use. It's gentle on our clothes too, which is important because (as I'm sure S can tell you) OT ballers buy some fabrics that aren't built to sit in a top loader agitator cycle.

agreed man. we had a LG direct drive for 14 years and liked it other than the smell and mold issue in the lip so you had to wipe and clean all the time. Gave them to some friends in town and still working great.

got samsung this time and with the new tech the smell and mold issue is non exsistent.

i love having the direct steam like the new ones have both to the washer and dryer. no more little tub to fill on the dryer. I find the steam and a 3 hour cycle can clean and remove almost any thing. especially with some dawn power washer before hand sprayed on the stain.

love all the different options on cycles too.
