People need to understand that the videos don’t tell the whole story. They are a great tool but need to be reviewed with the understanding of what they are.
Many times the officer sees something before the video starts or something off camera that he reacts to and people watching the video then don’t understand his actions.
To try to catch everything on camera, body cams have a very wide angle fish eye lens. It changes the perception of distance. “Why the hell did he shoot that guy with a knife / pipe / brick when he was so far away?” When, in reality, the guy was six feet away and about to bash their head in.
The worst part though is that the video gets slowed down and examined frame by frame. An entire incident occurs in three seconds but two days later closely examining video frame 1,683 you can see that the suspects hand was opening as he began to drop the gun after firing the three shots at the officers. Why did they shoot him?

Black or white, you should have fair treatment from the police. These videos help provide that.
Nobody’s arguing that. What it does is introduce prejudice, and if it ever went to trail, it would make it very difficult to get a fair trial because of that fact.

Obviously ppl are gonna watch those two videos and think they know the whole story. Like the ppl that are angry about and the ppl that say he deserved it. The videos don’t show either.
I’d much rather see some video than believe the polices investigation of themselves.

same as if a couple guys try to jump you in the street and you shoot and kill 1 of them... the other dude who tried to jump you will be charged in his buddy's death

There is no perfect answer. But having the footage and releasing it is 1,000 better than simply letting the cops tell the whole story and investigate themselves. Too many cops have been proven to lie and falsify evidence. The vast majority of the cops are decent guys and having the videos allow them to show the situation from there perspective as well. The videos are there to protect the cops as much as anything in my opinion.

This is true for everyone's profession. No one likes being put under a microscope.

I've heard some rumors about developer alums buying up Tigerland to demolish and redevelop; it's been all talk and speculation so far.
I do know Middle Eastern landlords started to buy up a lot of the property in the 1980's. Perhaps they're the ones who allowed the area to go to seed.

There are a lot of places that are like this in Baton Rouge. I wish that would be an option on the table sometimes. It may be the only way to save some areas from becoming high crime areas. (O'Neal south of South Harrell's Ferry with the townhomes comes to mind)
