It does matter because they are costing American taxpayers somewhere between 150 billion to 450 billion per year. So the extreme lengths we have to go through to get them out of here aren't because we just hate them, it's because they need to gtfo because they are actively harming America.
There is no single, widely accepted consensus on whether undocumented immigrants cost more to the government than they contribute financially. You cite FAIR, I'll site CATO. You site CIS, I'll site CBO. And considering the indiscriminate nature of how these deportations are being conducted, we dont know if we a getting rid of those that were net contributors or takers. We will find out the true cost/benefit of these deportation efforts hopefully a few years down the road but as of right now, with the notable exception of getting rid of some criminal aliens Im not positive it will be a great improvement for our economy.

There in lies the problem with the whole system. It was designed for the 1960's when it was passed, and has not been modernized in 60 years. See my post earlier that if Congress would do their job and modernize the system we wouldn't be in this mess.
Meanwhile, we don't let the country fall because "the system is broken". We deport.
Where was your outrage when Obama deported 3 million?

Your 4th amendment rights if the stop doesn't meet the requirements laid out in Terry v. Ohio. And even then it's not a requirement (as far as I know) to have physical ID on you.

You know how markets work? That the cost of something is determined by supply and demand? So tell me, what happens when the supply stays the same, but in the span of just 4 years millions upon millions of people are allowed to just immigrate here illegally? The price of everything goes up, because the demand is outstripping the supply. When they go to the emergency room because they don't have insurance, who pays for that? You do, with increased premiums. When they get in a wreck with no insurance, who pays for that? You do. When they have children, who pays for their public school? Not them, because a vast majority are getting paid under the table because they aren't legally here. And don't even get me started on the ebt cards a lot of them use.
So if you don't think they are net drain, then you're a dumbass. Use some common fricking sense.

Sometimes the economy isn't the most important thing. (dogmatic libertarians get an aneurism hearing this)
If we imported a billion immigrants tomorrow from all over the world, the economy would show an "improvement". However, it would not, imo, be an improvement to the majority of the current American's lives.

Odd how many qualifiers you just added instead of saying none

You may need to take some ESL classes:

Any reason you stopped right before the word "if?"

I wasn't a fan either. The difference between Obama and Trump's first term is the method of rounding people up. They focused a lot more on ICE detainers at jails and more targeted work site enforcement, not the random detentions that are occurring currently. There are some court proceedings procedural issues I have a massive problem with as well.
Again, I know that this is what a majority of the board wants, not trying to change any minds, just stating my opinion.

Damn you're right, modifiers in a sentence make the first part totally false. If it isn't true for every scenario, it isn't true at all.
"It's legal to have opioids if you have a prescription" means it's never legal to have opioids
"You can own a gun if you aren't a felon" means no one's allowed to own a gun
"Your 4th amendment rights are violated if law enforcement doesn't follow certain criteria" means your 4th amendment rights are never violated.
Simple stuff!

For someone saying I need ESL, you're not doing too well here

I'm just agreeing with you, bud. If a sentence requires some kind of qualifier then it must be some Communist gobbledygook. Everyone knows dependent clauses are woke

One thing we should all be able to agree upon is that that Bovino guy is a grade A, Napoleon Complex having, wannabe Nazi douchebag. He's disrespectful to local police, state police, even judges. He thinks he can get away with whatever the heck he wants. Dude intentionally messes with people to get a rise out of them and encourages his agents to do the same.
This admin couldn't have picked a worse face for this operation.

There are studies from reputable think tanks that look at all that data. CATO, a traditionally conservative one found that ilegals contribute 300 billion in taxes more than they take. There are others that conclude differently. I'd like to see more before drawing a conclusion
.
Our own governor Landry on Jan 16 2024 directed every executive branch entity to provide a written report to the Governor's office within 120 days detailing public services or funds expended "for the benefit of illegal aliens. The stated goal was to "analyze data to determine the financial burden" on Louisiana taxpayers and potentially to "send the federal government a bill" for the expenses incurred. While the order set a deadline for internal agency reports around May 2024, news coverage from after that date does not indicate the public release of a single, consolidated report with a final financial figure. Political analysts suggested the order was primarily a "political exercise" to pressure local authorities and justify future legislation rather than a typical public study
So we cant even get a comprehensive cost benefit analysis in our own state even when demanded by executive order of the governor. Its pathetic.

I mean, I'm not wrong....the dude is cosplaying as Himmler. Watch his mannerisms and tactics. He's a typical short man with no self confidence and a life of being picked on.
You must be short.

Fair enough, but we cant even get a handle on the data showing what they contribute vs what they cost. There is so much we really dont have a firm grasp on as far as impact positive or negative.
