Mentioning the trim package on your car is a akin to adding DR or Esquire or any other alphabet soup of characters identifying your degree to your name.

Still not as annoying as the “I have a Doctorate, you will address me as Doctor” folks.

Everyone with a platinum f150 does this.

I do it. Mostly because It gets on my superiors nerves that I do it.

Yes I drive a Platinum.

Lightning Platinum was too expensive. I had to drop down to the Lariat. Gonna miss the extras I'm sure.

I take pride in having the oldest car in the parking lot. I drive my vehicles until they have at least 300k on them before getting new vehicles.

If you are counting on the trim level of your vehicle to define you as a person, you need to work harder in life.

That was true during the C4/C5 generation, but the C7 and and especially C8 are much younger buyers.

Average 911 buyer is 50+ FYI

it's pretty fricking lame. Does he mention that he sprung for the undercoating and extended warranty?

Who asks what someone drives?

“Hey man! What you drive? Real buttter or margarine? Toothbrush or Sonicare?

Those are my first three at every function

Maybe previous times this question came up people asked him about the trim

And maybe you aren't a prick, but I doubt it as much as I doubt someone asking about the trim level of another person's vehicle in casual conversation.

The only thing I would be bummed about losing is the heated steering wheel. At first, I thought it was a dumb feature until I drove my wife's car without a heated steering wheel last weekend when it was in the teens. The entire time I was thinking wow, this is miserable.

I traded in my XLT for a platinum back in 2019. I love the truck but if it weren't for the deal I got on it I would be in another XLT.

And it still is. I'm seeing more and more younger people in that market because they are cheap to be had, parts are plentiful and the older guys that hung on to them for so long are finally giving up their keys.
I agree with you that the C7 & C8 young buyers are well represented with the age differences in ownership.

If he got a High Country or Denali it is perfectly ok to mention the trim.
